About Us Erins Dream

Erin's Dream is an outreach for Erin Curtis, Jeff Megonigal and Calvin Megonigal. Simply put, it is a love story in progress. Their story touches your soul and has inspired many who hear the details to become a part of this dream. Love can turn a nightmare into a dream come true. Most families encounter misfortune – some more than others. Against all odds, Erin and Jeff lost two beautiful children to Infant Leukemia in less than two years. They now have a third child who is also considered at risk for the same deadly disease. Every parent’s worst nightmare became reality, twice. This young family has been financially and emotionally devastated, yet they continue to work tirelessly to reach out to other families just like themselves. Erin’s Dream is to have a home of her own where she can dedicate her lifetime to helping others, sharing what she has learned with those who don’t know where to begin. Erin’s has always dreamed of owning her grandmother’s farmhouse, which must now be sold to finance her grandmother’s care. The Erin’s Dream initiative is focused on renovating this home and enabling Erin, Jeff and Calvin to purchase the property and enjoy a home that would otherwise be lost in their misfortune. Through the donation of time, money, labor and materials from the Erin’s Dream participants, this property must be substantially renovated by November 2010. The Erin’s Dream team is looking for your support through fundraisers, volunteer time or lending a hand however you can. Their darkness has always been illuminated by the love of those who surround them. Please – help us shine some light.

Have you reached your own dreams? If not, you may be interested to know that many people find the path that leads to their own dreams while in the process of helping others. It’s true! It is impossible to help others without indirectly helping yourself. Welcome to our dream quest!   After losing two children to infant leukemia, and living with the very real threat that her third and only remaining child could develop the same disease, Erin had a dream. She dreamed that she could launch an organization to help other young mothers who face battles with chronically or terminally ill children. Erin was determined to turn the pain and grief of her own loss into genuine love and hope for other families who are walking the same path that Erin has walked twice.    Erin and Jeff have been emotionally and financially devastated by the events of the past three years, but that has not stopped them. Recently, a fundraiser to benefit Erin and Jeff’s wish to renovate her grandmother’s farmhouse generated a few thousand dollars that was desperately needed. When Erin heard the story of Gavin Owens, she simply turned her attention toward that crisis and directed funds to help another family in need. That is where Erin’s heart is – helping other mother’s like herself.   Erin still has the wish to make a farmhouse in Schwenksville, Pennsylvania into the center for her Erin’s Dream foundation to help struggling families. In the mean time, in addition to her wish, she is chasing a dream that includes helping people like the Owens family. “I know what it is like to squeeze a lifetime of love and care that you have in your heart, into a few weeks or months with a terminally ill child” said Erin. “As long as I have life in me, any other mother who needs a hand with a chronically or terminally ill child will be the beneficiary of the Erin’s Dream foundation.”   Your support of Erin’s Dream will not only help Erin build a center for her Dream Foundation, it will touch the lives of other people just like Erin and the Owens Family.
