Avery

Avery Elise Megonigal was born on May 25, 2006. She was a blessing right from the start. Her newborn demeanor was pleasant & calm. It didn't hurt that she was super cute of course. Her first talent was sleeping with her tongue out. Oh so peaceful!

 On October 31, 2006 Avery was diagnosed with Infant Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia at the age of 5 months. Erin noticed blood in her stool throughout the night before her diagnosis. Her pediatricians sent her to Bryn Mawr where she was diagnosed & then transported to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. Avery spent the majority of her little life at CHOP and enjoyed herself while she was there. She made quite an impact on the staff at the hospital and we believe that she loved each and every one of her friends there almost as much as she loved her mommy & daddy!

 Avery's chemotherapy protocol allowed her to reach remission during treatment, but 7 months into treatment her cancer returned. Following the relapse, the attempt at acheiving remission once more was unsuccessful. Avery passed away, at home on October 1, 2007.
