I would like to thank those who came out to the farmhouse on Sunday to help or ride in our Motorcycle Ride. While we did not have much of a group of riders, I believe that quality won over quantity. The drivers & passengers appeared to have a great ride & we learned a lot about how to make our ride better & more successful next year. We are committed to having another ride next year. It will be interesting and rewarding to look back on our first year with fond memories and to see how much things have changed (hopefully all for the best!) in a year.
In a more personal note, we've known for far too long now that following the loss of a loved one, certain anniversaries of special occasions & special days can be particularly difficult. Calvin's recent 1st birthday was a big leap for us as a family. There are no words that can express the relief that Calvin has now turned one & while we're still unsure what the future holds for him as far as his health, our fears of his illness during infancy are slowly dissipating. In the days leading to & now following his birthday, Jeff & I have found ourselves emotionally spent. A milestone is cause to celebrate, but we also miss our Avery & Nolan greatly. The hurt can be overwhelming. Jeff has made a sound decision to take leave from his job at Hollenbach's. He needs some time with Calvin & I to regroup. I support him in his decision. We do not wish for anyone to understand what a challenge it is to wrestle with the daily tasks of life & career after losing two children to cancer. Let's just suffice it to say, it IS tough & we WILL get through, but it is important to be together & work together.
Today, I confirmed the date for an upcoming event for Erin's Dream. We will be hosting a WINGO event, "real men's bingo" on October 16, 2009 at the Gilbertsville Social Hall in Gilbertsville, PA. I will keep everyone updated on our progress & we will soon have tickets available for this event. We do have tickets available in our Web Store for Vera Bradley Bingo on October 3rd.
